Built in Edinburgh, with Scottish councils.
Admit is the admissions platform for Scottish local authorities.
It handles applications and allocation for nursery, primary and secondary places.
It is made by a small team you can talk to.
Admissions Support and GearedApp
Two names, one team.
Admissions Support Ltd
The company behind Admit, and the one your council contracts with.
GearedApp
The Edinburgh software studio that designs, builds and supports Admit.
The CivTech story
Admit was developed through the Scottish Government's CivTech programme, with West Lothian Council.
In 2022 the council set Challenge 7.8: help parents through admissions for Early Learning and Childcare (ELC). Admit went live there, and grew from ELC to primary and secondary.
Supported through CivTech Challenge 7.8 and the Scottish Government.
- Challenge
- 7.8, in CivTech 7. Launched 31 May 2022.
- Set by
- West Lothian Council
- The problem
- Around 4,100 children, 66 council nurseries and about 40 partner providers and childminders. Only one person knew how to maintain the old system, and it took a lot of manual admin.
- The ask
- Place children fairly, keep parents and carers informed, and make it simple for staff and families.
The people you will talk to
No reseller support desk between you and the people who write the software.
The team that demos Admit is the team that onboards you and answers your support requests.
