Partner provider
A private, voluntary or childminding setting that delivers funded hours on the council’s behalf.
What it means
A partner provider is a private nursery, voluntary-sector setting or childminder that delivers funded hours on a council’s behalf. The council pays the provider for the funded hours each child takes there.
The Scottish Government’s Funding Follows the Child guidance uses the term "funded provider". Councils also say PVI provider or commissioned provider.
Partner providers and councils need to agree, child by child, on the hours being funded. Where each side keeps its own figures, reconciling them is slow.
Also called funded provider, private and voluntary provider, PVI provider, commissioned provider or childminder (when funded).
How Admit handles it
Partner providers have their own access to Admit. They see the children they are funded for, the hours for each, and their funding list. These are the same figures the council holds.
Funded hours at a partner provider are calculated in the same way as at a council setting, including the provider’s share of a split placement.
Partner providers
Council and partner nurseries on one system, working from the same figures.
