SEEMiS
The management information system used across Scotland's 32 councils.
What it means
SEEMiS is the management information system used by schools and education services across Scotland's 32 councils. It holds pupil records and the day-to-day administration that sits on them. NAMS, the module councils use for Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) applications and allocation, is part of it.
SEEMiS is being replaced nationally. Councils have been told that the replacement programme does not carry NAMS forward. That leaves ELC admissions without a system in the new arrangement.
How Admit handles it
Admit does not replace SEEMiS. It replaces the NAMS module and works alongside whichever management information system a council uses, now or after the national replacement.
Admit is not tied to one system. Data goes out as CSV for any system to take in, and how data comes in from a council’s own systems is agreed during onboarding. Admissions for ELC, primary and secondary run on one platform. The records a council needs elsewhere are exported as CSV.
NAMS
The module of SEEMiS that Scottish councils use to manage Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) applications and allocation.
